Boy, 13, arrested over alleged rape of teenage girl in Buckinghamshire park

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 13-year-old boy was arrested for the alleged rape of a teenage girl in a Buckinghamshire park.

Thames Valley Police said it received reports on Monday that a girl in her teens had been raped in Rye Park, off London Road, in High Wycombe at around 3pm.

A 13-year-old boy from Buckinghamshire has been arrested on suspicion of rape and has since been released on conditional bail, the force said.

Both the victim and her family are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

Police have said there is not believed to be any wider risk to the public.

Detective Inspector Michael Anderson of Thames Valley Police said: "This is naturally a distressing incident for the victim, and it will understandably cause concern in the local community.

"However, I would like to reassure members of the public that a full and thorough investigation is underway and we have made an arrest."
