‘Tis (nearly) the season to get merry and eat our body weight in chocolate but this festive season, our go-to supermarkets have some very different ideas in store for us.

No longer is it enough to splurge on a wallet-rinsing cheese board or a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, as there are set to be some surprising items on our shopping list come December.

From foot-long pigs in blankets to Brussels sprout flavoured crisps, these are the most bonkers Christmas 2018 foods on offer.

They’re hands down the greatest part of our Christmas dinner and Aldi has answered every foodie’s prayers this year with the launch of foot-long pigs in blankets.

Yes, from December 6 the smoky bacon-wrapped sausages will be available to purchase at just £2.99 for a pack of two.

They’re designed to feed the whole family but we reckon they’ll be gone in next to no time…

It can prove a tough decision choosing between gorging on the cheese board or sticking to your selection box but this year, Asda has the solution to all our festive problems.

Yes, the supermarket chain has launched Wensleydale infused with salted caramel and white chocolate – a feast for snack devotees.

Available from November 22, the divisive cheese weighs in at an impressive £1 so it would be rude not to at least try it out…

On average, the UK knocks back more than 300 million mince pies every Christmas so imagine our excitement upon news that Iceland is launching ice cream inspired by the festive treat.
