The balloon person at your sixth birthday party might have been your primary school hero, but we guarantee their purple poodle hasn't got jack on Masayoshi Matsumoto's creations.

The Japanese artist puts together incredibly intricate balloon animals, using no cellotape and no marker pens.

Creating colourful masterpieces from nothing but balloons - including their tiny little eyes! - Masayoshi shares his work on his Tumblr blogs, with one for animals and one for characters (which do have some tape and market pen additions).

From detailed moths to clear-winged insects and teeny-tiny little grey mice, he's got it covered...
