Blake Shelton: 'My mullet wasn't cool'

Blake Shelton has admitted he would tell his younger self to ditch the mullet hairstyle.

In a recent interview for People magazine, the country star opened up about his style regrets and confessed he had committed crimes against fashion in his youth.

"I would have told that kid, 'Hey man, the mullet's not as cool as you think it is,'" Blake, who was named as the publication's Sexiest Man Alive back in 2017, quipped. "And I would have told myself to get more rest back then. When I started, I was 24 and lived life to the max back then. It's probably why I ran out of battery so soon."

Blake, who serves as a mentor on the U.S. version of The Voice, also noted that he now has a much slower pace of life and is finally embracing his age.

"These days I'm just kind of a slow slug. Luckily, I got the job on The Voice and I get to sit in the red chair most of the time for a living," the 44-year-old joked.

Despite easing back on his commitments, Blake is determined to keep releasing music, and insisted he's at the point in his career where he's planning on reinventing his music style and possibly even his wardrobe.

"I'm to the point in my career where I always want to try to reinvent myself. I keep one foot in traditional country but at the same time ... find new sounds and new music," he added.
