The US presidential election is only 75 days away. On 3 November 2020, current President Donald Trump will go head-to-head with Democrat opponent Joe Biden, as American citizens take to the poll stations to decide who their leader will be for the next four years. And with the Democratic National Convention taking place virtually this week, things seem to be heating up.
A couple of days ago, former First Lady Michelle Obama said in no uncertain terms that "Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country." And now, 18-year-old singer Billie Eilish has shared her unfiltered thoughts about the current president.
The Grammy award-winning artist - who would have been unable to vote in the last election due to her age - is using her voice to urge action from her fans. "Vote like our lives and the world depend on it," she said in pre-recorded video as part of her performance at the online Convention.
Going on to criticise Trump over the way he has handled issues such as the coronavirus pandemic, climate change and more, Eilish said: "Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything we care about. We need leaders who will solve problems like climate change and Covid, not deny them."
The Bad Guy singer showed her support for Democrat nominee Joe Biden in the upcoming election, telling viewers of the convention that the US needs a leader who "will fight against systemic racism and inequality". That starts, she said, "by voting for someone who understands how much is at stake, someone who is building a team that shares our values."
Billie Eilish isn't the only famous face to have admonished the US president in recent days. Taylor Swift made public comment about Trump's refusal to fund the United States Postal Service despite an increased demand for postal voting due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Trump's calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly: He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president," Taylor Swift tweeted. "He's chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans' lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power." In a further tweet, the Folklore singer described the President as an "ineffective [leader]" who has "gravely worsened the crisis that we are in and he is now taking advantage of it to subvert and destroy our right to vote and vote safely."

Author and model Chrissy Teigen - who has famously been blocked by Donald Trump on Twitter - has also shared her thoughts on the USPS situation. She expressed horror at an image of postboxes being removed from neighbourhoods, tweeting: "HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING???? How is this really happening????? How can he do this?? He will literally stop at NOTHING. even his supporters HAVE to understand this is wrong. NO???"

Joe Biden is currently leading on Donald Trump by several percentage points in the national polls, which will be encouraging news for all who stand against the current President. However, Hillary Clinton also had a lead on Donald Trump in polls ahead of the 2016 election, and we what happened there.
