Bill Gates insists he would 'marry Melinda all over again'

Bill Gates would marry his ex-wife Melinda French Gates "all over again".

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the Microsoft founder said despite their 2021 divorce, he doesn't regret marrying Melinda, the mother of his three adult children.

"Every marriage as the kids leave the house will go through a transition. Mine sadly went through this transition called divorce," Bill admitted. "But from my point of view it was a great marriage. I wouldn't have changed it. You know, I wouldn't choose to marry someone else.

"Yes. I'm talking about would I marry Melinda all over again. In terms of my future, I don't have any plans, but I highly recommend marriage."

By Bill's account, the pair's divorce was so amicable that they've remained friends - though Melinda declined to use that word in a CBS interview last month.

"In an interview she chose not to use that word, but I'll use it," Bill told the publication. "We have a, you know, super important, complex, close relationship where we've chosen to work together. And I'm very happy that we get to work together."

However, Bill admitted, "I'm also grieving the same way she is... You know, we grew up together."

Bill and Melinda, the founders of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, married in January 1994 and announced their split in May 2021. Their divorce was finalised that August.

They share three children - daughter Jennifer, 26, son Rory, 22, and daughter Phoebe, 19.
