Beyond Paradise reveal epic Death in Paradise crossover for series finale

The series finale of Death in Paradise spin-off, Beyond Paradise, will see the two worlds collide in an epic crossover. At the end of the penultimate episode, which aired on Friday evening, viewers were informed that beloved character DI Humphrey Goodman, played by Kris Marshall, will be making a surprise return to the Island of Saint Marie.

A teaser clip was shown before the credits rolled and showed Kris in character walking on the white sandy beaches and coming across an "old friend". Watch the emotional teaser below.

Kris was clearly thrilled about returning to where the magic all began. He said in a statement: "I was honoured and delighted to return to Guadeloupe as part of Humphrey's journey in Beyond Paradise, and to rekindle my deep passion for the island."

A synopsis for the series finale reads: "The Shipton Abbott police team are faced with a seemingly impossible case to crack. A burglary seems clear-cut at first when the thief's unusual calling card matches that of local criminal Atticus Styles (Spencer Jones), but when the forensic evidence comes back, it all points to another suspect.

"The only problem is the suspect, Hayley Collins (Hannah Traylen), was locked up in a police cell by PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) at the time of the crime. Meanwhile, still reeling from recent events, DI Humphrey Goodman's mind is elsewhere as he considers his future in Shipton Abbott."

Kris previously opened up about the prospect of returning to Death in Paradise's beautiful setting of Saint Marie: "I would say there's always a possibility of something like that," he previously told Digital Spy. "I'd love to bring them all back, really, for different reasons. I had such a wonderful time.

"I think it'd be awesome to have all four detectives in one show or one episode together, as a meta thing where their worlds collide."
