Late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury - who passed away in 1991 at the age of 45 due to AIDS complications - left behind an impressive musical legacy. The ‘I Want to Break Free’ singer lived in Munich, Germany, for a period between 1979 and 1985, describing the city as a place “where I can actually walk the streets" That’s why, in 2020, the city of Munich paid tribute to the late singer by naming a street after him. Freddie Mercury Street is located in Munich’s Neuhausen district, which was chosen for being a “creative” quarter which shared the same spirit as Freddie.

Being part of two of the most legendary rock bands, Nirvana and Foo Fighters, certainly has its rewards. In 2009, Dave Grohl, 54, was honored by the city of Warren, Ohio - which is his hometown - with a street named after him. David Grohl Alley is pretty much an art exhibition too, as lots of paintings and street art pieces honoring the musician can be found there.

Duluth, Minnesota native, Bob Dylan, 81, has a street named after him in his hometown. In 2006, the city of Duluth commemorated Dylan’s 65th birthday by unveiling Bob Dylan Way.

There are several iconic places that have been named after the late Beatles legend John Lennon, whose life was taken on December 8, 1980. Lennon was 40. The John Lennon Peace Monument and John Lennon Airport are two of them, as well as John Lennon Drive. All of them are located in the musican’s hometown, Liverpool, England.

The street where RiRi, 35, grew up in Bridgetown, Barbados, originally named Westbury New Road, was renamed as a tribute to the ‘This Is What You Came For’ singer, in 2017. Ever since, the street’s name is Rihanna Drive, and hundreds of fans visit it every year!

Ah! Where the streets of NYC have a U2 name! Back in 2009 to celebrate U2’s 12th studio album ‘No Line on the Horizon’, part of New York City’s 53rd Street was renamed U2 Way. This, however, was only temporary, as the band - comprised of Bono, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr. and The Edge - were in town, appearing on ‘The David Letterman Show’ for an interview.

'The King of Rock and Roll' is still one of the most influential and highest earning musicians 46 years after his death in August 1977 at the age of 42. Six years before his passing, in 1971, a street was renamed after him. The Elvis Presley Boulevard, located in Memphis, Tennessee, was formerly known as Highway 51 South.

Superstar rapper Jay-Z, 53, is a New York native so you'd think he'd have a street named after him in The Big Apple, right? Wrong! Shawn Carter Jay-Z Road is located in Kwara, Nigeria. In 2006, then-governor Bukola Saraki renamed one of the city’s streets, following the rapper’s initiative Water for Life, which had the goal of improving the water conditions for locals.

Jay-Z’s wife Beyoncé, 41, also has a street named after her! Beyoncé Boulevard is located in Bermuda, close to the National Sports Centre, where Queen Bey delivered an amazing performance back in 2008.
