It’s estimated that one in five people in the UK struggle with dandruff and in April 2020, I became one of them.
I went from being flake-free to looking as though my parting had battled through a blizzard, in just a matter of days.
But I refused to take it lying down, I turned to my best friend in times of trouble - the internet - and ordered a mass of products to try and get my luscious locks back.
After trialling a variety of shampoos, treatments, hair masks and supplements, just three stood out to me as jewels in the dandruff treatment crown.
So, if you’re struggling with flakes or an overly dry or itchy scalp, here are the buys that I’ve tried, tested and recommend.
3 products that cleared up my dandruff
1. Jason Dandruff Relief Shampoo | £9.68 from Amazon
I gently massage the shampoo into my hair and leave on for a maximum of 10 minutes (I advise working up to this and starting at just three minutes). You can comb through while in the shower, or use the FReatech brush I recommend below.
I noticed the difference after just one wash, and was flake free after the second.
2. FReatech Updated Hair Scalp Massager Shampoo Brush | £5.99 from Amazon
This top-rated scalp massager brush came highly recommended in the reviews, with people dubbing it the “holy grail” when it comes to dandruff removal.
Simply massage the scalp by gripping the brush handle and working in circular moments - the soft bristles mean that the sensation is a relaxing one and you needn’t worry about going to hard.
Plus, it can reportedly help stimulate hair growth and inject extra body into your locks - bonus!
3. Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo Treatment | £6.99 from Amazon
With over 10,000 reviews on Amazon, T/Gel is perhaps the worst kept secret amongst the dandruff-suffering community.
Enriched with tar, the shampoo alleviates itching, reduces flakes and calms redness in just one wash, and continual use will help keep dandruff at bay in the future.
