The best suction toys, according to a panel of 100 women
If the term “suction device” makes you think of a vacuum cleaner, then gather round because we have news. Also known as clitoral suction toys, these gadgets won’t do much for your floors, but they should deliver excellent customer satisfaction. Designed to mimic oral pleasure, they offer something different to your classic rabbit or bullet vibrator.
They can be used for solo use or for couples’ play – either way, they make a pleasurable addition to the bedroom. This is thanks to their innovative pulsating air technology, which increases blood flow and pressure down there, to deliver more powerful orgasms (that’s the idea anyway).
There are lots of different designs available – including the viral Lovehoney Rose vibrator – offering a range of different modes and settings, so we assembled our team of at-home testers to trial some of the best suction toys on the market and give us their honest feedback. Tough gig, right?
See our winners at a glance below, but read on for full reviews, plus expert advice from Annabelle Knight in-house expert at sex toy retailer, Lovehoney.
What is a clitoral suction toy?
"A clitoral suction toy is a type of vibrator that uses air suction to provide stimulation,” explains Knight. “Made popular by the Womanizer brand and its pleasure air technology, they create suction around the clitoris, and then send pulses of air through the head to modulate the pressure between high and low, simulating a 'sucking' sensation.”
Why are clitoral suction toys so popular?
One of the reasons clitoral suction toys have taken off on social media is because they offer a totally unique sensation. It would be very hard to get the same results from another type of toy.
They’re also great for beginners who don’t want anything too powerful or overwhelming. “The pulsations can be gentler than standard vibrators, while giving targeted and intense stimulation,” explains Knight.
How we test suction vibrators
We asked our Good Housekeeping Institute testing panel, made up of experienced sex toy users, to try out a range of clitoral suction devices over a few weeks, to help us find the most satisfying buys.
We asked them for detailed feedback on speed and intensity settings, ease of use, and overall performance. We also considered noise levels, battery life, any accompanying apps, discretion and portability.
Next 3D Pleasure Air Stimulator with Climax Control
Score: 89/100
“I had sensations I'd never felt before and it was amazing,” said one tester of Womanizer’s suction toy, which really says it all.
The brand’s groundbreaking 3D pleasure air technology was the first of its kind, thanks to its ability to deliver intense orgasms via a contactless clitoral air massage, and judging by our panel feedback, it continues to lead the way. The toy also boasts 14 different intensity levels, which one tester said gave powerful results even on the lowest setting.
You can adjust the intensity of the air flow and depth of the air waves with the gadget's climax control technology. The brand claims this offers the opportunity for fuller, multiple orgasms. Unsurprisingly, there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to suction toys, which is why this one includes two different sized suction heads to choose from. They’re easy to remove and clean, so you can keep them in tip-top condition.
The Rose Glow 2-in-1 Clitoral Suction Stimulator with Egg Vibrator
Score: 86/100
Enjoy double the pleasure with this two-in-one clitoral suction stimulator from Lovehoney. It not only comes with a suction head, but also features an insertable love egg to target your G-spot.
There are easy-to-follow instructions too, so it’s a great first entry into the world of suction toys. It also impressed our at-home panel with its pleasing design, which they said felt soft against their skin.
Sona Cruise 2 Sonic Clitoral Massager
Score: 82/100
Luxury sex toy brand Lelo makes products that look as good as they feel. This sleek suction device went down well with testers thanks to its smooth silicone material, which is lightweight and silky soft.
The ergonomic design perfectly moulds to your hand to make it simple to manoeuvre and switch between the 12 different speed settings. And when the time is right, the patented cruise control technology delivers an extra pulse of power when pressed hard against the body.
Liberty
Score: 81/100
Another Womanizer option, but are you really surprised? The brand was ahead of the curve when it launched its first suction toy back in 2014 and it's still leading the way today.
Most of our panellists said this petite toy, which gently massages the clitoris using pulsating air waves, helped them achieve a more intense orgasm very quickly. They also said they would happily continue using it and would recommend it to others.
It's on the smaller side and comes with a hygienic travel cap, so you can easily take it with you on trips.
Rose Pussy Pump with Clitoral Stimulator
Score: 80/100
The latest addition to the Lovehoney Rose collection stands out for its unique design and function – it uses both air technology for suction and features a flicking tongue-like attachment to mimic oral sex. Despite its out-there design, many testers said it was still a discreet toy, with one commenting, “It doesn’t look much like a sex toy, which I liked.” What’s more, they found it had extremely quiet sound levels, which further added to its discretion. Another tester noted it was “very pleasant, not only in terms of use but also visually – so cute”.
There are three speeds and seven patterns to make your way through. Some beginners found it was a little confusing to use at first as there weren’t many instructions. For experienced users who are looking to experiment, though, it’s a top pick.

Rose Clitoral Suction Stimulator
Score: 78/100
This rose-shaped clitoral suction toy went viral on social media a few years ago, thanks to its unique design and promises of pleasure. It has since spawned an entire Rose collection, but the OG suction device is still worthy of a place in your bedside drawer, according to our panel.
Testers praised the unintimidating features and compact size, which make it a simple yet effective toy that’s easy to store and take on the go. It’s rechargeable too, so there’s no need to fumble about for batteries.
Performance-wise, it was a big hit. “I can’t wait to use it again,” said one tester, while another added: “All I can say is, oh my word!”
