The best new shows coming to Netflix in June
Netflix has become more precious to us than ever over the past year or two — and with so many new tv shows and films on the way, we can't see our attachment to the platform waning anytime soon.
We can always rely on the streaming service to offer up a little bit of comfort, escapism and laughter. So, as ever, we're here to pick the crème de la crème from Netflix's flurry of new offerings this June, including the best series, documentaries and films on Netflix UK.
So, grab the snacks, snuggle up and escape through the magic of the small screen with the best new on Netflix UK series, films and documentaries to watch this month, including the highly anticipated Jlo's documentary and a fantasy comedy from Melissa McCarthy.

1) As the Crow Flies
Release date: 3 June
From the beloved writer, Meric Acemi, the creator of one of Netflix favourites Love 101... a new story about the clash between Gen X who still stands in decision-making positions in corporate life and the Gen Z who is strongly rising up.
Netflix says: "While Gen X tries to keep up with adapting to the new world, social media, new ways of business, they still are not aware of the bigger picture. The gap and the differences between both generations are undeniably strong. In this backdrop, we'll follow Asli's story who tries to fly as the crow instead of relying on the merit of hard-work to be able to climb the stairs. The series will question whether Asli can win or lose with the methods of the new world, in order to reach the summit and be the most reputable person on the table."

2) Interceptor
Release date: 3 June
Action heroine Elsa Pataky is a force to be reckoned with in explosive thriller Interceptor.
Actor husband Chris Hemsworth serves as executive producer on the film which follows Pataky as JJ Collins, a skilled army captain who must use her years of tactical training and military expertise when a simultaneous coordinated attack threatens the remote missile interceptor station she is in command of.
Netflix says: "When Collins finds herself in charge of a lone nuclear missile interceptor base in the middle of the Pacific Ocean after she is wrongfully drummed out of her dream job at the Pentagon. When a simultaneous coordinated attack then threatens the base itself, Collins comes face-to-face with the charismatic yet crooked Alexander Kessel (Luke Bracey), a former US military intelligence officer intent on carrying out an unthinkable plan.
"With only minutes on the clock, Collins must utilize her years of tactical training and military expertise to determine who she can trust and stop Kessel and his covert mercenaries from completing their twisted and terrible mission."

3) Mr Good: Cop or Crook

There's a new compelling docu-series to binge this month.
Mr Good: Cop or Crook? traces the incredible criminal case against the most famous Norwegian cop Eirik Jensen. The true-crime series asks the question that's been gripping the nation since his arrest in 2013: Is Eirik Jensen the best policeman in Norwegian history or is he in fact the biggest drug trafficker Scandinavia has ever seen?
With unique access to both Eirik Jensen, this doc series features charismatic, colourful characters and tells their unbelievable story from their first encounter in the 90s to their potential downfall in the courtroom in 2020. Viewers will be wondering until the end - who is telling the truth?

Good news for fans of gameshow Floor is Lava, because make way for Floor of Lava 2. Netflix says: "The show is is back with bigger obstacles, higher stakes, and even hotter lava. New this season - a huge and very slippery volcano that takes the competition to the next level. Watch out!"

New female-led 10-parter drama Surviving Summer is set in Australia.
A rebellious American teen finds family, friendship and the perfect wave after landing in a small Australian surfing town in this tween drama series.

6) Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey
Release date: 8 June
This four-part docu-series investigates the abuse of the radical polygamist sect Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) - a splinter group of Mormonism that practices polygamy - lead by criminal cult under Warren Jeffs.
Netflix says: "In 2008, a dramatic raid at the Yearning for Zion Ranch in West Texas generated attention around the world, as law enforcement agents uncovered stunning evidence of sexual, physical and psychological abuse and took 400+ children into custody.
"Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey, directed by Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Rachel Dretzin, gives viewers an in-depth look into the secretive polygamous sect of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) and the rise of self-professed prophet Warren Jeffs.

7) Halftime
Release date: 14 June
Following the success of Beyonce snd Taylor Swift's Netflix documentaries, Jennifer Lopez is taking control of the cameras to give fans an insight into the life of the superstar icon.
The film will go behind the curtain of Jlo's 2020 Super Bowl halftime performance with Shakira, her journey as a mother and Latinx creative and woman on the other side of 50. It will also feature her desire to win an Oscar (critics predicted she would get nominated for Hustlers but she wasn't) and will feature appearances from her fiancé Ben Affleck.

8) God's Favourite Idiot
Release date: 15 June
Melissa McCarthy stars opposite her husband Ben Falcone (previously seen with McCarthy in Bridesmaids) in her new eight-part fantasy comedy.
Netflix says: "In God’s Favourite Idiot, Mid level Tech support employee Clark Thompson finds love with co-worker Amily Luck at exactly the same time he becomes the unwitting messenger of God. Also, there’s roller skating, a lake of fire and an impending apocalypse."

9) Spiderhead
Release date: June 17th
Chris Hemsworth stars in this thriller based on The New Yorker short story Escape From Spiderhead by George Saunders.
Netflix says: "In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. 10) Snowflake Mountain

Snowflake Mountain is a funny, warm-hearted reality show which takes a bunch of clueless kidults who aren’t yet living to their full potential and puts them through their paces at a wilderness survival retreat to try and kickstart them into standing on their own two feet. The back-to-basics camp is a rude awakening to just how pampered their lives have been so far. At stake is a transformative cash prize for the lucky winner. There’s no running water, no parents to wait on them, and, worst of all, no Wi-Fi. But, by connecting to nature, they’ll learn to graduate as fully-functioning adults.

12) Umbrella Academy 3
