The best restaurants in Ischgl

Restaurant Alpenhaus, Ischgl
Restaurant Alpenhaus' sun-soaked VIP Lounge is a great place to take a break from the slopes

Unlike many Austrian resorts, Ischgl boasts a big variety of restaurants that are independent of hotels, although inevitably there is also plenty of hotel dining with prices to match the high standards of cooking. However, less pricey authentic Tirolean options are also on offer, often served by cheerful staff in traditional outfits.

For further Ischgl inspiration, see our guides to the resort's best accommodation and après ski.

Hotel Central

Serving Tirolean cuisine, the restaurant in Hotel Central is easier on the purse and more down-to-earth than a lot of the resort's eateries. The pastel-pink hotel is owned by the Zangerl family and is a good choice for a simpler dining experience.

Restaurant Dorf-Cafe

At Gasthof Alt Paznaun, the Restaurant Dorf-Cafe has a menu of regional dishes such as Tiroler Gröstl (pan-fried potatoes with bacon and other mixed-grill meats, topped with a fried egg) and Bauernschmaus (sliced roast pork and smoked pork ribs with spicy sausage, home-made dumplings and sauerkraut). For those who prefer to steer clear of hearty farm dishes, there are pizzas, steaks and salads on the menu as well.
