All the best Oscar moments from the 2020 Academy Awards

The Oscars 2020 are over, and it was a night of spectacle, serious moments and history in the making.

Big winners of the night were the movies Parasite and 1917, with actors including Renée Zellweger and Brad Pitt also scooping prestigious awards.

Janelle Monae's performance

Janelle Monae opened the show with a rendition of her 2009 song Come Alive, reworked with Oscar-appropriate lyrics. The best bit? She got the crowd involved, prompting Brie Larson and Leonardo DiCaprio to sing along.

Cats revival

Following the mixed reception received by Cats, stars of the film James Corden and Rebel Wilson presented the visual effects awards dressed, you guessed it, as cats.

Brad Pitt gets his first acting Oscar

It's hard to believe after all his years in the industry, but last night was Brad Pitt's first time winning as Oscar for his acting. He looked overcome with emotion at times as he accepted his award, giving a special mention to long-time friend Leonardo DiCaprio as well as his kids.

Parasite makes history

It was a historic night as South Korean film Parasite became the first movie not in the English language to win the prestigious best picture award. As well as taking home the biggest award of the night, the film also scooped best international feature, best director and best original screenplay, winning four out of its six overall nominations.

Renée's touching speech

Zellweger picked up the best actress Oscar for her portrayal of Judy Garland in Judy, and dedicated her award to the woman who inspired her performance.

The actress said: "Judy Garland, you are certainly among the heroes who unite and define us. And this is certainly for you."

Natalie Portman's outfit

Natalie Portman wore a black and gold Dior gown with a cape stitched with the names of the women directors who weren't honoured at the Oscars.

“I wanted to recognise the women who were not recognised for their amazing work this year in my subtle way," she said.

Olivia Colman takes to the stage

As a 2019 Oscar winner, Olivia Colman's no stranger to being up on the stage. Last night she debuted her new blonde hair as she gave a hilarious speech.

"Last year was the best night of my husband's life. He actually said that, and I've given birth three times," she joked.
