Hotels at home

For those missing the actual experience of being in a hotel, many properties offer a slice of this that you can enjoy at home to tide you over until the real thing from May 17. Ireland's Adare Manor, for instance, sells its plush white robes for €120 (£104). More alternative options meanwhile include those such as the Experimental Group's recently launched monthly Henrietta Cognac Club, which will send recipients a limited edition pack of the brandy (£35).

Pay it forward

The other option is to give her something to look forward to, in the form of quality time with you in the lap of luxury. You can book a stay, or lots of hotels offer vouchers; for spa days, afternoon teas and more at the ultimate country house Cliveden for instance.
