We’ve found the best flavoured smoked salmon to serve this Christmas

Once considered a luxury food, good quality smoked salmon is now available from a range of different retailers, from supermarkets to independent suppliers.

We’ve seen more and more flavoured options enter the market this year too, as smoked salmon is the perfect carrier for trendy flavours such as gin and tonic or single malt Scotch whisky. And these innovative alternatives can be used in plenty of dishes over the festive period.

Try serving on a blini or toasted crumpet with some crème fraîche and dill for a quick and simple canapé - don’t forget to serve with some champagne! Alternatively, mix your salmon into a creamy potato salad or pasta dish. For your Christmas breakfast, classic scrambled eggs can be elevated with some torn smoked salmon over the top, or you can serve it as a simple starter before the turkey.

How we test
