The Best-Dressed Men at the Met Gala 2022 Went All In
The Met Gala is Hollywood's biggest costume party. Except it's in New York. And, technically, it's not a costume party in the slightest, but a well-heeled charity fundraiser for the museum of the same name's Costume Institute. It's notoriously difficult to get into. It's usually quite mad. It's led by Vogue potentate Anna Wintour. And, most importantly, there's a theme. For 2022: 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion'.
That means, for a second year running, the Met Gala 2022 is a celebration of all things American fashion. So Ralph Lauren, and Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein. But you can also expect up-and-comers that have redefined the parameters of American fashion, and, more importantly, reshaped the narrative as to who gets to take part. Sure. The theme seems a bit abstract. And yes, some of the most arresting past events have been based on a theme that is a lot more specific (we all remember the ode to Catholicism; less so 'Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between').
That aside though, the Met Gala 2022 is set to be a night of really great style – and here are the best-dressed men of the evening.
(Dimitrios Kambouris)Part Gatsby, part Caesar, decorated fashion journalist Hamish Bowles used very little to make a lot of noise in a roaring throwback.
(Dimitrios Kambouris)When you actually work on the Met Gala, it makes sense to go all out. Which is exactly what Vogue's creative editorial director Mark Guiducci did in classic American white tie (with not-so-classic shiny bits included).
(Dimitrios Kambouris)Co-exec producer of The Late Late Show Ben Winston went for a tuxedo. Safe. But look closer, and it's a double layered, structured affair that proves that the Met Gala isn't all about who shouts the loudest.
(Dimitrios Kambouris)Ryan Reynolds never over-eggs the pudding. So just like his day-to-day thing for classic denims with the odd slice of colour, the Free Guy star has lifted a classic tux with some very expensive looking velvet and an Omega watch.
