The Blues had been facing defeat after James Collins’ 85th-minute penalty, an outcome which would have been really harsh on them.
However, Bishop turned home Terry Devlin’s pass at the death to cap a good Pompey display - and here are our player ratings…
One moment in first half, came out of the box with a lovely cushioned headed clearance to cut out danger. Otherwise well protected by the defence in front of him and only beaten by a penalty. (Photo: Jason Brown) Great first-half interception to reach the ball before Waghorn after Shaughnessy exposed, which summed up a superb performance. Read game excellently, mobile, energetic and his best display since Spurs. Interestingly, now taking corners from the left. (Photo: Jason Brown) Another assured display and made one flying block with his chest in the second half to stop the ball, with the home support baying for a penalty. However, was hugely unlucky late on when the ball bounced up onto his hand for what was a penalty - and Derby scored from the spot. (Photo: Jason Brown) Should have scored in the 64th minute when he shot wide after Robertson’s deflected shot fell kindly. Defensively again sound, restricting Derby to barely any chances until that unfortunate late penalty. (Photo: Jason Brown) Took a real battering but soldered on as ever. Had a 69th-minute header from Lane’s free-kick which was saved and then substitute Devlin somehow missed with a header from his left-wing cross in stoppage time. (Photo: Jason Brown) Building up a bit of form of late and very impressive once again after quiet start to the season. Dominated midfield areas and even after unfortunate early booking never dipped. (Photo: Jason Brown) (Replaced by Terry Devlin on 90 minutes) Came in to replace the suspended Morrell and asked to operate a little deeper than he usually would, yet it worked. Some driving runs centrally, usually brought down with a foul, and always seems to have a bit of time on the ball. Needs to stop picking up these silly bookings, though. (Replaced by Tino Anjorin on 71 minutes) A couple of bright first-half runs down the left, one of which teed up Bishop for a good chance. One time tracked back brilliantly to steal the ball of Mendez-Laing, but faded in the second half. Handed the number 10 role behind Bishop in absence of Saydee. Had one second-half shot deflected by Bishop, but it flew straight into the keeper’s arms. Overall still to discover that creative spark for Pompey, although put the ball in which resulted in Pompey's stoppage-time leveller, so deserves credit for that. (Photo: Jason Brown) (Replaced on 90 mins by Jack Sparkes) First league start of the season for the Irishman. Put in one second-half free-kick met by the head of Ogilvie and saved, while had some other encouraging moments. Needs to now be given a run in the side. Had one goal-bound header cleared off the line by Waghorn in the first half, while later needlessly took a touch before shooting and it was charged down. But eventually made no mistake with the stoppage-time leveller after converting Devlin’s assist.
