Everyone needs a crossbody bag and these 2 are the best I’ve ever used — here’s why
I’m admittedly a crossbody bag snob. With about five crossbody bags in my rotation, I love the practicality and style versatility they add to my life, especially as someone who absolutely hates having things in my pockets.
For the past few years, I’ve been switching between my two favorite crossbody bags — a leather staple and another brown neoprene option that’s a bit roomier and more casual. Most recently, though, I’ve found myself continuously reaching for two that I just added to my collection. I think it’s finally safe to say that they’re my new favorites for a few reasons.
These two new additions are the Metro Mini Crossbody and the Metro Crossbody, which recently launched as a part of the luggage brand Monos’ Metro Collection expansion. What I love most about these crossbody bags is the way they each perfectly execute practicality, versatility and style while perfectly embodying that quiet luxury aesthetic that I can’t get enough of.
The Metro Mini Crossbody is admittedly my favorite of the two because it's smaller and more appropriate for everyday use. I recently wore this bag in three different outfit styles on three different weekend days, and it never looked out of place once.
I received so many compliments each time I wore it.
What’s most impressive about the Monos Metro Mini Crossbody is that, despite its size, it actually holds a lot. The main compartment is pretty deep. Inside, I’m able to fit my wallet, my phone, a portable power bank, some floss, hand sanitizer and lip balm. And when it’s filled to capacity, it somehow doesn’t appear stuffed or strained.
The main compartment also securely closes with a magnetic flap and has an internal slip pocket for cash or any flat items. There’s also an outer back pocket that’s ideal for storing easy-to-access items like your ID or your passport if you’re traveling.
It also has an adjustable shoulder strap that lets you change the length to comfortably fit your body type. And, as a 6-foot-2 man, I can confidently say that it passes the tall test!
The Metro Crossbody has all of the elements I love about the Mini but in a slightly larger and roomier package. I've opted for this bag when I needed a bit more room for additional items like a rolled-up tote bag or some face masks. This crossbody bag is the one to get if you carry your daily essentials plus a few extras.
It has an extremely roomy main compartment secured with a two-way zipper. Inside, there’s also a zippered pocket that separates the interior into two different sections. This makes it perfect for keeping things organized and easy to access.
You’ll also find four card sleeves and a hanging pocket for even more organization. Like the Mini Crossbody, this one has an adjustable shoulder strap and also passes the tall test.
Both the Monos Metro Mini Crossbody and the Metro Crossbody are made with water- and scratch-resistant ultra-microfibre vegan leather. Admittedly, genuine leather is what I prefer, but the material on these bags both feels and looks just as luxe.
They’re both also lined with soft, cotton twill fabric that’s thick and durable, ensuring that they actually last with constant use. Also, both bags come in four colors: carbon black, ivory, saddle tan and mahogany.
