All the best Christmas adverts of 2022, including Disney and M&S
It's that time of year again. There's a general consensus that Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé come out to play as soon as the clock strikes midnight on November 1, which can only mean one thing... Christmas is finally here!
It also means Christmas ads are beginning to grace our screens, so we've compiled some of the best ones so far (we'll update you when more drop) to get you into the festive spirit.
Marks and Spencer
Although Tom Holland's adorable Percy Pig didn't make a reappearance this year, Dawn French is back as the Christmas Tree Fairy, and she's got a new companion to share her festive cheer with.
Coming down from her spot on top of the tree, Fairy finds a "little friend" in Wylie the dog's favourite dog toy Duckie, voiced by none other than Jennifer Saunders. Naturally, Duckie's a bit down about being a chew toy – but after a sprinkling of fairy dust and learning about all the delicious Christmas food M&S has on offer this year, spirits are high.
We'll be seeing many more adventures from Fairy, Duckie and Wylie, because M&S plans to drop a new advert every week until the New Year.
Disney
'The Gift' is the third and final instalment of Disney's 'Our Family To Yours' Christmas adverts, and it's a real tearjerker.
We were first introduced to to Nicole and her grandmother Lola in 2020, as they bonded over Christmas traditions. The following year, we saw Nicole as an adult, as her children Ella and Max welcomed their new stepfather Mike into their home.
This year, the animated short centres around the arrival of a new baby, and we watch as Ella struggles to deal with changing Christmas traditions. But when she finally meets her new sibling, she steps up to her role as big sister and gifts the baby with the Mickey Mouse toy that had been passed down to her by her older brother Max.
The song 'A Little More,' performed by Encanto star Jessica Darrow, plays as the story unfolds.
TK Maxx
TK Maxx's upbeat advert bursts with colour, as a young woman struts down the street to the sound of Cerrone's 1977 disco classic 'Supernature' while getting high-fived for finding loved ones the right gifts for the right price.
"With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, we know this is a tough year and, for many people, Christmas is such an important time to come together with loved ones," said TK Maxx group director Deborah Dolce, Group Director at TK Maxx.
"Sharing presents is an integral part of the festivities – we all love to treat our friends and family," she continued, adding that a number of the company's gift product lines will be "available for up to 60 per cent less than the recommended retail price".
LEGO
LEGO's festive campaign encourages us to unleash our inner child this Christmas, complete with a special guest appearance from Katy Perry.
It features a group of kids delivering gifts around the neighbourhood on a vehicle they designed, while Katy rides on top singing her smash hit 'Firework.' When they run into some car trouble on their journey, good old Iron Man gives them a helping hand.
