The past 48 hours in American politics has been extremely eventful. Since election day on November 3, we're still waiting for the confirmation of a US president. It's been a very close race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, with both men saying they are confident of their own victory.
There are still key states where votes need to be counted so it's currently a waiting game to find out who will win. The pre-election polling appears to have been pretty off too, so the events of the next few hours, days or even weeks are unpredictable.
Unless, it appears, you're Sanders.
Other events to have unfolded over the past day include Twitter-happy Trump typing away with unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud and casting doubt on the authenticity of in-mail voting (similar to postal voting in the UK), which so far has been tipped in the Democrats' favour.
As Biden's lead has narrowed, with him flipping Wisconsin and now projected to win Michigan, Trump has now launched legal proceedings in the states of Pennsylvania and Georgia in a bid to halt the counting of votes.
Once this news came to fruition, a week-old clip of Senator Sanders on The Tonight Show... With Jimmy Fallon began circulating online, during which Sanders explained how he thought Trump would react.
And, we have to say, his prediction is pretty much what is going on right now.
'I worry about this,' he told the host when asked about how the election results will play out, noting that Democrats vote more via postal votes and Republicans choose to head to the polls. So the first results that will be counted will be from walk-in polling votes, so could put Trump on good speed... until the mail-in (and largely Democrat) votes are counted.
'We're going to have a situation I suspect in states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, other states where they are going to be receiving huge amounts of mail-in ballots and unlike states like Florida or Vermont they won't be able, for bad reasons, to begin processing those ballots until election day or maybe when the polls close.
'That means you're going to have states dealing with millions of mail-in ballots. Here is my worry: What polls and studies show is that for whatever reason Democrats are more likely to use mail-in ballots, Republicans are more likely to walk into polling booths on election day. It is likely that the first votes that will be counted will be those people who came into the polling booths on election days which will be Republicans.
'And here is my fear. It could well be that at 10 o'clock on election night Trump is winning Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and he gets on television and he says, "Thank you, Americans for electing me. It's all over, have a good day." But then the next day and then the day following, all those mail-in ballots are counted and it turns out that Biden has won those states. At which point Trump says, "See, I told you the whole thing was fraudulent. I told you those mail-in ballots were crooked and we're not going to leave office."
'That is a worry that I and a lot of people have and people should be aware of that possibility.'
Right well, my mind is blown. Someone give Mystic Meg a call and tell her there's a rival in town.
