Bernie Sanders is now a fashion icon, apparently
Well before President Donald Trump won the election, Bernie Sanders was out of the race – and for many of us, out of our minds too.
But his legacy lives on – not in the form of liberal US politics, but as a fashion icon, apparently.
Known well for his sporty, blue and logo-adorned jackets as well as a classic variety of ‘dad’ shirts, Sanders actually appears to have been the inspiration behind some pieces at Paris Fashion Week last month.

The Balenciaga show was awash with Bernie-esque attire, from logos strikingly similar to his campaign branding right down to a few of those classic chequered shirts.
And it didn’t go unnoticed.

Not even for Bernie himself, as he’s finally responded to the idea that he’s now a major fashion icon on CNN.
.@BernieSanders on being Balenciaga's latest muse: "Of my many attributes, being a great dresser is not one of them" https://t.co/8oCdahczU5

He said: “Of my many attributes, being a great dresser is not one of them.”
Though we think Bernie should be less hard on himself – the evidence is there, plain and clear.

From the red, white and blue colours right down to sweatshirt hoods everywhere, Bernie’s made his presence quite clear in Paris.
You’re a fashion muse, Bernie.

Who knows if Bernie-chic will last, but if you feel inspired, you’d better dig out those old running trainers.
