It’s a new year, and with it comes another announcement from the Prime Minister Boris Johnson of yet another national lockdown in order to combat the coronavirus.
With a fresh set of challenges and months of uncertainty facing the capital’s emergency services, the London hotel the Berkeley has rallied its troops once again by announcing the return of its monthly 999 drive-thru.
Starting today, the Belgravia-based luxury spot will prepare a dedicated team of Berkeley hospitality heroes ready and waiting to host London’s essential frontline workers.
From 9am to 11am, hotel staff will be serving a range of gourmet treats and refreshments, including coffee from the Italian roasters Musetti Coffee, cups of tea, Wiltshire ham and cheese toasties, tomato and gruyere croissants, along with a load of decadent snacks.
The initiative was a monumental success during the last lockdown, and the hotel received countless donations from local neighbours, businesses and food halls in support of NHS, Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade staff risking their lives in the name of Covid-19.
Those who wish to make donations can do so by contacting BlueLights@the-berkeley.co.uk. Your donations will then be sorted and used when needed most throughout the next few weeks of the national lockdown.
