Ben Shephard is jumping on the cocktail mixing bandwagon to create his wife Annie the perfect personalised Valentine's Day gift this year.

The Good Morning Britain presenter has informed his followers on social media that he is designing a bespoke Valentine's cocktail for Annie with the help of a drinks agency, and has invited his friends and fans to join in as he practices creating the concoction on Friday night (12th February).

Admitting he's "usually useless" at coming up with romantic surprises for Annie, the TV star explained in a video on his Instagram page: "I think I've come up with a pretty good plan for Valentine's Day for Annie for the first time in our 25 year relationship. I've spoken to my mate, Ben Reed, who's a mixologist with Cocktail Credentials… legend of a barman and mixologist, and I asked him to design a bespoke cocktail for Annie that I could try and recreate for Valentine's Day."

Captioning his video, he added: "This year I think I’ve nailed it, and want to spread the love! @cocktail_credentials has designed a bespoke valentines cocktail for Mrs S that he’ll help me make on Friday 6pm on my insta - you can join us to make the drinks, and chat all things cocktails.

"Then come Sunday I’ll try and do it myself and surprise Mrs S with a special bit of Shephard Cocktail love. Why not join us on Friday 6pm to celebrate the end of another lockdown week, and get in the mood for a weekend of love!?!"

Fans were loving the original idea, with one commenting: "Who wouldn’t want a bit of Shephard cocktail love?"

Another added: "Great original idea. My husband is in trouble now if I don't get something similar ha!"

Let's hope no one ruins the surprise before Sunday!

Ben and Annie have been married since March 2004, and have two teenage sons, Sam, 15, and 13-year-old Jack.

The nation appears to be in the mood for cocktails - and with many of us spending so much time indoors, lots of us are turning to creative pursuits that we can do at home. Etsy recently revealed that shoppers are opting for at-home mixology kits to spice up their date night this year, with a whopping 1,183% increase in searches for cocktail DIY kits.

Cheers!
