In the wake of his relationship with Jennifer Garner, and his recent revelations about alcoholism contributing to the demise of his marriage, it has been revealed that Ben Affleck has moved on romantically.
This isn't the actor's first relationship since Garner - who is also the mother of his three children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel - but it is the first time we've seen him with another actress.
And considering his new squeeze is also present on our big and small screens, you might well recognise her.... so here's what we know so far about 31-year-old actress Ana De Armas.
Who Is Ana De Armas?
Ana Celia de Armas Caso is a 31-year-old actress of Cuban-Spanish heritage. Though she began her career in Spanish language films, she successfully transitioned over to Hollywood, starring in films like War Dog with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller and then perhaps more notably as Ryan Gosling's holographic girlfriend in 2017's Bladerunner.
Most recently, the actress starred as the sympathetic healthcare worker in 2019's Knives Out with Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Toni Collette (among other huge Hollywood names).
How Did Ben Affleck And Ana De Armas Meet?
The actress is playing wife to 47-year-old Affleck's husband character in an upcoming thriller film called Deep Water.
The plot consists of 'a well-to-do husband who allows his wife to have affairs in order to avoid a divorce becomes a prime suspect in the disappearance of her lovers.' The film is expected to be released in November 2020.
Have They Been Seen Out On Many Dates?
The pair were recently spotted on a beach in Costa Rica. The Paparazzi captured them on an intimate stroll, with De Armas in a rust coloured halter dress an Affleck placing his arm affectionately around her hip.
According to multiple sources, however, this was not the first holiday for the pair. Reportedly, the pair jetted off on a romantic getaway to Havana, Cuba, earlier in March. A source told People that they were spotted kissing in the airport, before hopping on a private jet bound for De Arnas' ancestral home.
Have Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas publicly acknowledged their relationship?
After returning from their aforementioned trip, De Armas shared a selection of pictures from her recent holiday including snaps of her paddling on the beach and a golden hour close up.
In a comment on the photo - which was quickly screen-grabbed by the @commentsbycelebs Instagram account - Affleck seemingly confirmed his new status as an Instagram boyfriend by writing on the post: 'Photo credit pls [sic]'.
Credit where credit is due, we guess?
What Has De Armas Said About Ben?
Ana De Armas has finally spoken publicly of her relationship with Ben Affleck, but it was more to congratulate him for his acting chops, rather than his skill at romance. In an interview that she gave to coincide with Vogue Spain's April cover, she spoke about her actor beau:
'The first time we read the scenes together, it became pretty clear he was going to do something exceptional with a very complex role. His character is the engine of the story and requires him to move between tragedy and irony or between realism and the most absurd comedy.'
'Not only does he know how to do it with ease, he also manages to surprise you in every shot. His talent is infinite.'
What's Changed For Ben?
As we said before, this isn't Affleck's first romance since his 12 year marriage to Jennifer Garner. The Batman star found love with Saturday Night Live writer Lindsay Shookus in 2017. And it's far from his first relationship with another megastar. Before Garner, Affleck famously dated both Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.
But could this time be different? Who is really to say, but if his recent interview with the New York Times is anything to go by, Affleck might be approaching this new love a little bit differently.
In the Times interview he stated: 'I drank relatively normally for a long time. What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage was falling apart. This was 2015, 2016. My drinking, of course, created more marital problems.
'You’re trying to make yourself feel better with eating or drinking or sex or gambling or shopping or whatever. But that ends up making your life worse....
'I have certainly made mistakes. I have certainly done things that I regret. But you’ve got to pick yourself up, learn from it, learn some more, try to move forward.'
So it sounds like he's taking his recovery from alcoholism very seriously and trying to ensure he doesn't fall into old patterns.
Obviously, we wish them the best.
