A behind the scenes look at Ryan Lo's AW18 collection at London Fashion Week

2018 is seeing the fashion industry experience a lot of changes.

From better inclusivity and brands going fur-free, to designers increasingly choosing to change their showcase strategy from catwalks to more interactive presentations and consumer-facing events.

Rylan Lo’s autumn/winter 2018 presentation was the latest example of the ever-changing climate. He chose to switch most of the models for mannequins and hold the event at one of London's most Instagrammable restaurants, Sketch.

Backstage MAC makeup artists carefully placed Twiggy-esque eyelashes and bold red glitter lips on the mannequins faces.

Meanwhile, hair stylist Sam McKnight put colourful wigs on the plastic models, accessorising them with bejewelled headbands, ribbon bows and oversized hats.

The ensembles themselves boasted many of Lo’s signature designs, including rainbow princess frocks, powder pink pieces and tiers of tulle, creating a sense of romantic fantasy and childhood nostalgia.

Guests walked around the dining parlour tables, filled with breakfast treats including croissants and rainbow macaroons, while the mannequins and six real-life models lounged on the pink velvet sofas.
