A beauty guru has shared the “unpopular” skincare habits she added to her routine which completely transformed her skin.

Establishing effective skincare can be a case of trial and error; we all have different skin types and what works for one person may not work for another.

Many turn to social media on the hunt for viable solutions to common ailments like spots and blemishes, as well as anti-ageing tips for younger, firmer looking skin.

Beloved content creator Bambi Does Beauty has amassed a loyal following of hundreds of thousands across TikTok and Instagram, thanks to her tips and advice on skincare and beauty.

The 34-year-old is known for her honesty and dedication to finding reliable products on the high street and beyond, and regularly offers her insight on tried and tested methods and lesser known hacks.

In a recent TikTok video, which has already amassed more than 100K views, the beauty lover spoke directly to the camera and said: “Unpopular skincare opinions that took my skin from this-” as an old photo of her skin with large red spots popped up, “to this,” as a newer image of her trademark clear and luminous complexion appeared.

She continued: “Stop cleansing your skin in the morning. Skip the morning cleanse and go straight in with hydration - trust me, your skin barrier is gonna thank you.”

She then said skincare “doesn’t have to be expensive to work”, before praising products by The Inkey List, a brand she was advertising throughout the footage. Bambi said: “Let me spill the influencer tea for you. I’ll get sent expensive skincare but it’s brands like The Inkey List I’ll use the most and I’ll actually want to buy when I run out.”

The influencer then said: “Exfoliating every day isn’t going to give you glowy skin, it’s going to give you a rash. I was a victim to this trend - my skin was red, inflamed, blotchy, so I started doing the opposite.

“Rather than exfoliating every day and damaging my skin barrier, I’ll use a barrier serum… morning and night, every single day. Now, I’m not one to butter my own muffin but my skin has never looked better.”

People shared their thoughts in the comments section. One person said: “Absolutely agree with this; skincare doesn't have to be expensive”.

Another shared: “Not cleansing in the morning has made my skin so much firmer and more hydrated! Love skin barrier serums, so will try this”.

And another said: “I’m always afraid to put [on] morning skincare without washing my face first. I feel like it’s dirty after the night and putting more creams will only make it worse”, to which, Bambi replied: “Maybe try just rinsing with water! And not using a cleanser. It's the excessive cleansing that’ll damage the skin barrier”.

Whenever trying new products, it’s wise to conduct a patch test. Apply a small amount of the product to an area like the inner bend of your elbow or your wrist, and leave it on for 24 hours to check for allergies or sensitivities.

If you experience a negative reaction, like itchiness, burning, or your skin becomes flaky, be sure to stop using the product.
