We caught up with Niomi to talk life after lockdown, her beauty heroes and the importance of yoga.

What does 2021 look like at present for you?

It’s definitely looking more social now the world is opening up a little! This past year has been an absolute rollercoaster in so many ways for everyone, but it’s enabled me to focus on my skincare brand, Smart Skin, and that’s been amazing. We’ve got so much coming up in 2021 – from new launches to some long overdue events and celebrations. I can’t wait to share what we’ve got planned with everyone. I also recently qualified as a yoga instructor, so I’m looking forward to teaching and really putting all the hard work into practice.

How would you describe your style and what are your wardrobe staples?

I’d say my style is quite classic. You can’t go wrong with a simple white tee tucked into jeans with heeled boots and delicate layered gold jewellery. I do love wearing dresses, so I’m excited about the weather finally getting warmer. My style icon is Audrey Hepburn – she had such a chic and effortless style.

What is your beauty routine?

I’ve been doing a lot of DIY facials during lockdown and have really learned how to look after myself. I love face masks and my Smart Skin Miracle Meta Mask was created to enhance the skin’s natural glow by gently exfoliating with the glycolic acid - I absolutely love it. I have a weekend tanning ritual, which always makes me feel and look so much happier and healthier, and I’m a big fan of dry brushing and using natural body oils to keep the skin hydrated.

I try not to wash my hair too often - twice a week is fine! And I’ve recently gotten into shampoo bars. In terms of makeup, my go-to makeup look is very natural – ideally I want it to look like I don’t have any makeup on at all. My favourite base is the Chantecaille ‘Just Skin’ Tinted Moisturiser which has SPF 15 – something that is so important to wear all year round.

What’s the item you couldn’t live without?

At the moment, it would have to be a facial oil. My skin can sometimes get quite dry and means my foundation doesn’t sit well. I’ve been mixing a few drops of the Smart Skin Multi V Elixir Oil in with my tinted moisturiser and it’s the perfect boost to hydrate and smooth my skin – and it helps it last all day!

How do you treat yourself?

I love a bath on a cosy night in, especially if a glass of red wine is involved – something I’ve definitely indulged in recently! I’ll light some candles and pour in the bath salts to soothe any aching muscles from yoga and running. For a real treat, I’ll use the Seed to Skin ‘Bath Nectar’ which Tuscan flower nectar. It’s a truly luxurious product - perfect to unwind and transport me to Italy!

How do you incorporate time for yourself into your schedule?

I think in this past year, we’ve all realised the importance of self-care and taking time to check in with ourselves. I hope we can continue these practices even when life becomes busier. For me, they are non-negotiable, to better my mind, body, and soul, and essentially make me a kinder person to those around me. I’m grateful for my yoga practice, to help ground me, re-centre, and gain perspective. I try to do it every day and will schedule it in my diary like a meeting so it doesn’t get missed. No matter how busy I am, I’ll always make sure I take a few quiet moments in the day to breathe and check in with myself.

What’s been your best pandemic purchase?

My Neal’s Yard Remedies diffuser with essential oils. It’s a beautiful product to create aromas around the home to encourage your desired mood, such as Vitality, Focus, Optimism, and Women’s Balance.

What are you reading?

I have just finished reading my dear friend Adrienne Herbert’s book, Power Hour. It has motivated and inspired me to wake up an hour earlier to do whatever is I want to do, without feeling any stress or rush about the day that lies ahead. Often I simply use this time to sit quietly and meditate or journal, or I go for a walk around my neighbourhood when it feels like the world is still sleeping. It’s a wonderful way to get a head start before work, and I would recommend this book to anyone who may have lost a little motivation recently.
