Naga Munchetty has called out an online troll for mocking her appearance on Twitter.

The TV presenter, who regularly hosts BBC Breakfast alongside Charlie Stayt, took to the social media platform on Thursday (July 16) to respond to a now-deleted tweet that criticised her for wearing silver brogues on a recent edition of the morning show.

"Paul - Three suggestions," she clapped back. "1. Add a picture of yourself to your Twitter profile 2. Think about what you Tweet before you write 3. I'll leave you to guess this one."

Later, Naga noticed that another Paul – whose profile doesn't have an avatar, much like the previous offender – replied: "I never understand why Charlie has to wear a formal business suit and that Asian bird seems to be able to wear whatever the hell she wants?"

"Oh Paul..." she wrote back, as many of her fans rushed to show their support.

"HAHA! You are a class act @TVNaga01! Touche," one replied, as another said: "What a vile man! You always look lovely and professional Naga. I did always wonder why men have to wear suits though. So boring."

"I was just thinking this morning - and actually every morning you are on that...a) you do a fantastic job when you are presenting and especially when interviewing (Alok Sharma today prime example!) and b) you always look amazing," a third added.

This isn't the first time Naga has stood up for herself when it comes to unwarranted backlash on social media. Back in April, she addressed a comment made which saw one Twitter user encourage his followers to "discuss" why anyone would "feel the need to wear high-heeled shoes" while fronting a news programme.

"Because I want to," she replied, prompting the individual to apologise.
