BBC The Traitors fans point out 'bizarre tactic' from star that 'literally has no benefit'
The Traitors returned with a bang on Wednesday night (January 1) as a series of unexpected twists left viewers at the edge of their seats and wanting more.
25 brand new contestants joined the show, but in a twist nobody saw coming, three were booted off the show before they even got a chance to enter the iconic castle.
That left 22 men and women in the game as they all got acquainted with one another ahead of the roundtable where Claudia Winkleman decided her three Traitors.
One of the contestants, Charlotte from London, revealed she was pretending to be Welsh, even going as far as putting on a Welsh accent. However, much to her surprise, one of her first interactions ended up being with an actual person from Wales, translator Elen from Cardiff.

She told the camera: "I thought, in the past, there's only been one person from Wales, but this year, Claudia's decided to bring two of us here which is so nice.
"Well actually, it's a bit of a spanner in the works because I'm not actually from Wales."
As the 32-year-old Business Director ditched her fake accent, she revealed: "I'm from London where I am born and bred. I've been putting on a Welsh accent because my mum is from Wales.
"It's one of the most trust-worthy accents so in a game where we need people to trust each other, I need an accent that people can trust."
However, as they tuned into the episode, viewers at home were confused about why Charlotte was doing this, especially as she wasn't chosen to be one of the Traitors.
Taking to Reddit, one user expressed: "Pretending to be Welsh is one of the most bizarre game tactics even with the 'most trusted accent' thing."
Another person quipped: "Can't get over how stupid this pretending to be Welsh thing is. Literally no benefit, will just show you're a liar." Somebody else commented: "Pretending to be Welsh and immediately meeting a Welsh speaker is hilarious."
Yet another social media user said: "Right. So pretending to be Welsh is... the most unnecessarily extra thing I've ever heard."
However, not everyone thought it was a bad game move as someone wrote: "Pretending to be Welsh with a Welsh speaking translator on the show is a brilliant setup." While a sixth added: "Fake Welsh accents, hidden vicars, female conclaves and the Psycho plot twist, the UK Traitors is back."
The Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
