BBC The Traitors fans ’absolutely deceased' over Freddie’s insane cover story while filming show
While hit BBC One show The Traitors is all about secrets and deceit, one player took the lying even further. Recently banished faithful turned traitor, Freddie has revealed the hilarious cover story he told his family and friends while he was filming The Traitors.
Appearing on spin-off The Traitors: Uncloaked, Freddie told host Ed Gamble that he told his friends and family he was going on an MI5 internship. He said: "I told people when I went for three weeks because if I'm not on my phone my friends are going to be like, what is going on? I told my friends that I was on an MI5 internship sort of thing because it's the only other reason why I wouldn't be on my phone."
While Ed broke off into laughter many other guests on the show, including Wilfred Webster who won the first series of The Traitors, said they could think of other reasons why he wouldn't have his phone. Freddie, , who lasted less than 24 hours as a traitor and now we can perhaps see why, added: "The bad lie was there from the start, you can see!"

Fans have taken to social media to say they also found Freddie's lie pretty funny. One said: "Absolutely deceased at Freddie telling his friends that he was on an MI5 internship to explain the three weeks he was off his phone during filming #TheTraitors".
Another said: #TraitorsUK Freddie saying his cover was telling his friends he was on an MI5 internship is SUCH A #freddie thing to do" and: "freddie telling his friends he was going on a MI5 internship??? LMAO what".
Freddie, who is a 20-year-old politics student from Peterborough, narrowly missed out on a place in the final when he was savagely thrown under the bus by Charlotte. Although also pretty new to be a traitor, having started the show as a faithful, Charlotte has very quickly proven she is rather brutal.
She threw fellow traitor Minah under the bus and recruited Freddie solely to get him caught out too, however, she might be about to meet her end. In a new twist in the show, one player has been chosen as a seer. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.
Being the seer gives the player chosen the power to pick any player and, just to them, they reveal if they are a faithful or a traitor. As viewers saw in the most recent episode Frankie has been named as a seer and in a fantastic move, although she doesn't know it yet, Frankie picked the only traitor left in the game, Charlotte, as the person to reveal.
This is set to add drama to the final as Frankie will now have to convince the other faithfuls that Charlotte is the traitor and Charlotte will have to defend herself against Frankie. The Traitors final airs at 8.30pm on BBC One on Friday, January 24.
