BBC The Traitors error sees player nearly discovered as fans predict betrayal

An early error by one of the Traitors sees them nearly face discovery in the latest episode of the BBC series as fans are predicting a future betrayal following their recent comments.

Traitors returned to our screens on New Year's Day and continues with its second episode airing tonight (Thursday, January 2). Not only will viewers get to witness the first banishment but one of the Traitors will begin to live dangerously.

Fans have already seen host Claudia Winkleman select three Traitors among 22 players as she touched her chosen on the shoulder during the first Round Table. Ultimately, the trio of Linda, Armani and Minah.

Linda, a 70-year-old retired opera singer from Hertfordshire already faced a minor blunder after she immediately turned to Claudia when she said the word 'Traitors'. This was called out by Faithful Jake but Linda managed to survive the first vote.

However, financial investigator Armani, 27, from London nearly makes a fatal error as the episode also sees the first mission of the show. Faithfuls and Traitors are required to work as a team and answer number-based questions to open chests located around the woods. Some contain gold representing £1,000 to be added to the prize pot. If they got the questions wrong, the chests would explode.

However, others have gunpowder inside. If the contestants gather 500kg into the main barrel during the 30 minute time limit, they will topple a giant Traitors statue and prevent a murder from taking place that night.

As it was in the Traitors interest to fail to collect the gunpowder, Armani was seen trying to get a simple question wrong. After the mission, before the Round Table, Tyler asked Kas if he noticed anyone trying to get questions wrong on purpose before adding: "Watch out for Armani's reactions at the Round Table."

The second episode will air tonight at 8pm on BBC One but some fans have already watched it as it is available to stream on iPlayer. Many have responded to Armani's actions saying she faces being exposed early on. In particularly following her comments made to her fellow Traitors during the episode's conclusion and 29-year-old call centre manager Liverpudlian Minah's reaction.

One fan posted online saying: "Armani saying to the other Traitors 'you’re not doing enough', girl you’re doing wayyyyyy too much. If I was Minah or Linda I’d feed her to the lions." Another added: "Oh Armani girl… the other Traitors absolutely do NOT need to act like you lol. I’m glad Minah isn’t going to take that feedback."

A third added their excitement for episode three as they said: "Can’t wait for tomorrow already. I think Armani will be found out and she will be gone as she’s played herself with over confidence. Minah and Linda ain’t having that." While another theorised: "Would like to think I’d have sussed out Armani early on. Speaks far too much and is too confident. Then after the 2nd night in the turret she needs taken down by the other Traitors."
