Melania Trump has revealed the 14-year-old son she shares with Donald Trump, Barron, also tested positive for coronavirus - but the teen displayed no symptoms. Despite his external good health, the concerned mother described the diagnosis as her "fear [come] true."

President Trump and his wife were confirmed to have COVID-19 at the beginning of this month, and while Melania recovered swiftly with some downtime at the White House, 74-year-old Donald Trump was whisked off to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he received treatment for three nights.

Following medical care, the President was flown back to the White House, where he stood out on the balcony posing for pictures without wearing a mask (despite still being contagious at the time). Since then, it seems Trump and his wife have made a full recovery, with both now testing negative for the virus. But what we didn't know at the time was that the couple's young son Barron had also contracted COVID from his parents.

In an essay posted on the White House website, Melania reflected on her experience with coronavirus. She wrote: "It was two weeks ago when I received the diagnosis that so many Americans across our country and the world had already received - I tested positive for COVID-19. To make matters worse, my husband, and our nation’s Commander-in-Chief, received the same news.

The First Lady then went on to reveal the previously unknown news about her son.

"Naturally my mind went immediately to our son. To our great relief he tested negative, but again, as so many parents have thought over the past several months, I couldn’t help but think 'what about tomorrow or the next day?'. My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive," wrote Melania.

Describing Barron as "a strong teenager" the mother-of-one went on to add that he exhibited no symptoms. "In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together. He has since tested negative," she said.

The Presidential election is now less than three weeks away. After taking some time out to recover from COVID-19, President Trump is back on the circuit, campaigning ahead of the November 3 vote.
