New Balance unveils the all-new Fresh Foam X 860v12

·1-min read

New Balance has just released an all-new version of its popular Fresh Foam 860v11 trainers, and there’s no prizes for guessing the new name. Yes, it’s the Fresh Foam X 860v12.

New Balance trainers are all about comfort, and these are no different. The Fresh Foam midsole is like running on marshmallow-covered clouds wrapped in sponge, making the 860s ideal for longer runs.

According to New Balance, the 860v12 features an even softer midsole than the v11 designed to “emphasise 360 degrees of softness”, and the shoes feature Fresh Foam X, which as well as providing a softer ride also provides more energy return from each stride, boosting responsiveness and, as a result, your efficiency over longer distances.

This all combines to make the 860v12s something of a workhorse – put in the miles and they won’t let you down, and at 324g for the men’s and 254g for the women’s, they’re reasonably light while remaining durable.

The 860s have also proven popular with overpronators due to the extra support from the dual-density medial post. The moulded Ultra-Heel found on the v11 has also been updated with a traditional heel counter for stability and reduced heel movement. It also features new embroidered design elements that are included for even more support.

And, as ever with New Balance, the trainers look, appropriately, fresh. The new mesh upper is available in bright colourways that stand out from the regular crowd (even their names, such as ‘mountain teal with sulphur yellow’, offer something a little off the beaten track) as well as looking sharp when you’re not running.
