Bake the world a better place in one of the UK’s biggest bake sales to raise funds for the Legacy of War. A troop of London’s best-loved patisseries (17 to be exact) will be whisking, piping and icing away next weekend at #BakeForUkraine. Major Bakeries include Ottolenghi, BRAT, BAO, Claridges’, Pump Street Chocolate, and The Good Egg, who will be serving up signature pastries all day long.
The big banging bake off will take place on Saturday 4th March at Toklas Restaurant where you can stock up on some sweet slices and tempting treats. Try Toklas’ delectable choux buns and St. JOHN’s fluffy madeleines, washed down with a cup of tea or premium beer from Dima’s Vodka. And while you’re at it, why not try Chef Yurii Kovryzhenko’s Ukrainian Honey Cake, the much loved staple on the menu over at Mriya Neo Bistro.
The one-off charity event is hosted by our favourite foodies Clerkenwell Boy, Olia Hercules and Alissa Timoshkina to celebrate the resilience of Ukraine and its people, one year on from Russia’s invasion. All profits will be donated directly to those affected by the war— over 8 million refugees who have fled their country for safety. The #CookForUkraine and #BakeForUkraine campaigns have collectively raised over £2 million for those greatly in need of aid, through generous donations from over 300 UK restaurants, supper clubs, individual donations and hosted events. So now you can have your cake and eat it, without the guilty conscience!
The #BakeForUkraine bake will run from 10am - 1pm (or until sell out) on Saturday 4th March at Toklas Restaurant, 1 Surrey Street, Temple, WC2R 2ND.
