It’s been a year since Prue Leith’s horrendous Great British Bake Off gaffe, and it looks like one of this year’s Bake Off competitors almost did it again.

Leith accidentally tweeted the 2017’s GBBO winner an incredible twelve hours before the finale episode, blaming time confusion while on holiday in Bhutan at the time. And according to a report by The Sun, GBBO contestant Ruby Bhogal just revealed this year’s winner to a Sandi Toksvig impersonator on Twitter.

A 26-year-old man from Swansea set up a fake Toksvig profile and privately messaged Ruby as a means to pry out this year’s winner.

“It’s actually pretty easy to do really. You just make a fake profile of one of their friends and then they follow you. You then change your name and message them and they have no clue,” the man told The Sun.

Ruby says she’s ‘very happy’ with this year’s winner.

He claims to have completed the prank simply because he was ‘bored’ and Ruby messaged him she was ‘very happy’ with the winner.

The Sun has decided not to reveal the winner ‘as it would spoil it for millions of fans.’

This is not the first scandal to hit this year’s series. Fans were outraged this week when favourite Manon Lagreve was voted out, despite other fan favourite Rahul Mandal performing considerably poorer.

Many viewers were also not happy about this series introduction of a vegan week. While some were against the healthy eating trend all together, some vegans felt the episode made fun of their lifestyle choice.

Great British Bake Off continues Tuesdays at 8pm.
