Noel Fielding's absence during The Great British Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer has been hilariously addressed by the show's Twitter.

The co-presenter was noticeably missing over the weekend as the likes of Taskmaster's Mike Wozniak, poet Tim Key and Loose Women regular Judi Love attempted some spectacular bakes.

Friends icon and contestant David Schwimmer stepped in to pose for a picture with presenter Matt Lucas, with its jokey caption reading: "Wow, Noel Fielding looks so different with his new haircut. #GBBO."

This comes after This Morning's Alison Hammond was unveiled as the next Great British Bake Off co-presenter, as Lucas steps away from the role.

Fielding himself publicly welcomed her to the team, writing on Instagram: "It gives me so much pleasure to welcome @alisonhammond55 into the tent. I'm absolutely pumped we are working together.

"We are gonna spend the whole time giggling like naughty school kids. The bakers are gonna love you to bits."

Previously, Prue Leith discussed why she believes Lucas decided to quit the series.

"I'm really sad because I love the guy. He's such fun, and he got on so well with Noel," she told The One Show.

"They were just brilliant. But I do understand why. If [you're] close to Matt, you do know that he never stops working and he has so many projects and people keep asking him to do things and he loves theatre... he absolutely loves that kind of show."

Leith continued: "And you can't commit to it if you're on Bake Off, because we film that all summer. So I think he thought three years is enough."

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
