Grab a tissue because we're about to deliver some very sad news: Quality Street is removing its iconic Toffee Deluxe sweet from its famous purple tins.

Nestle, the company that owns Quality Street, has announced it's replacing the Toffee Deluxe (you know, luxurious toffee wrapped in milk chocolate) with a new limited-edition flavour, the Chocolate Caramel Brownie.

It's not the first time the Toffee Deluxe has been sent packing. It was also removed back in September 2016, but reintroduced in October 2017 after it left a chewy sweet-shaped hole in our lives.

Quality Street was first introduced in 1936 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, by Harold Mackintosh. Harold was the son of John and Violet Mackintosh who created the Toffee Deluxe as a standalone product earlier in the 20th century.

Named after the J M Barrie play, Quality Street is still manufactured in Halifax to this day and, at its busiest times of the year, the Nestlé factory produces more than 10 million sweets every single day.

While the Toffee Deluxe has always been a firm favourite, our heads could potentially be turned by the Chocolate Caramel Brownie. Thoughts?
