Naming another human is kind of a big deal, so it's a decision that lots of thought goes into. Some people keep lists of their favourite baby names even if they're not planning to have kids for a while, whereas others make more of a last minute decision. But whichever way you approach it, there's always the risk of regret over your choice.

New research carried out by the name picking team at Gigacalculator.com reveals that a fair chunk of parents do actually go on to regret their baby name choice over time. 73% of more than 5,000 people surveyed said they went on to think of better names for their kids after naming them - and there are a certain group of baby names that seem to attract the most regret.

There were, of course, a multitude of reasons people ended up wishing they'd chosen a different name for their child. The most common was concluding the name doesn't actually suit the kid, with 64% of regretful parents saying that was why. Other reasons included a partner having picked it, a friend going on to choose the same name for their child, a celebrity calling their baby the same, or the child getting teased for it at school.
