A baby Chinese giant panda was born in South Korea six months ago and, since making her debut on the Everland Zoo's social media channels in January, baby FuBao has gone viral for being entertaining, sweet and making everyone smile.

The first video to be shared of FuBao (seen above) showed the baby panda clinging to her keeper's leg as he tried to move around her enclosure. He had just weighed the cuddly bear and put her on his lap, but she slipped down to his ankle where she held on playfully.

Since the first video of baby FuBao went viral, every one since has attracted millions of views worldwide. It seems people can't get enough of her daily antics, which include playing in her enclosure, eating bamboo and taking the odd tumble.

In 2019, Everland Zoo was given a high animal welfare certification by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) in the US. It's given only to zoos that are believed to operate a world-class animal welfare system and is placed in high esteem.

Recent figures show that the world's population of wild giant pandas is on the up. In 2015 the WWF reported a 17% increase in wild giant pandas, up from 1,596 in 2003 to 1,864. This is thanks to wildlife conservation efforts in China's Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces.
