Axed The Traitors star lifts lid on ‘huge secret’ he never revealed on show

An ousted star from BBC's hit gameshow The Traitors has opened up about a secret he kept hidden while in the castle.

The series of betrayals and banishments returned to screens on January 1, with a group of new contestants set to vie for a prize pot of up to £120,000.

After the first two episodes, two Faithfuls have already been murdered. The first of these was Yin, a doctor of communication from Cambridge. Her fate was decided by Traitors Linda, Armani and Minah, who believed her intelligence would lead her to figuring out their identities.

Viewers then watched as the next victim, Keith, was murdered, much to the surprise of his castmates. Following his exit, the former Faithful has revealed that he kept some cards close to his chest during the show.

Appearing on The Traitors Uncloaked podcast, where host Ed Gamble interviews stars from the BBC One show, Keith confessed that he was shocked by his early exit.

He reflected on the moment he saw the fateful envelope, saying: "I'd seen the envelope on the chair and I thought, 'Oh, somebody might want me to be a Traitor.' I didn't think I was going to be murdered. I just opened it and reading it, that was the biggest shock of my life. I just thought to myself, 'I was too smart."

When asked if he had any information he tactfully withheld from his competitors, the 65-year-old revealed: "My big secret was being a black belt in taekwondo. I'm a first degree black belt in taekwondo and I didn't want to tell anybody that just in case."

However, he admitted that he would have shared the secret if he had more time in the gameshow.

Lying to get ahead has become a common tactic in the series for contestants trying to avoid early banishment. In this season alone Charlotte, a business director from London, has been pretending to be Welsh and speaking with a fake accent.

Meanwhile Leanne, a 28-year-old ex-soldier, has kept her profession private and told the cast that she is a nail technician.

The Traitors returns tomorrow on BBC1 and iPlayer at 9PM.
