Because Marvel fans currently have nothing better to do, this weekend they checked the CV page of Avengers 4 cinematographer Trent Opaloch and noticed he listed a film called Avengers: End Game.

He's since updated his resume and changed the title to Avengers 4, but the damage had already been done.

A number of fans have pointed out that this is a reference to a scene in Avengers: Infinity War, when Doctor Strange is searching through every possible outcome in the battle with Thanos to see if there's any possible ending in which the Avengers can win. Out of 14 million possible outcomes only one has the Avengers winning. Just after Doctor Strange hands the Time Stone over to Thanos, he tells Iron Man, "We're in the end game now."

This hints at the theory that everything that we see playing out is part of Doctor Strange's plan, which is to allow Thanos to win first before Strange goes back in time to reverse everything that happened.

Not every Marvel fan is convinced, though. Comicbook.com points out that co-director Joe Russo denied the film's title would be based on a line of dialogue in Avengers: Infinity War in an interview in May.

But before we even get to Avengers: End Game, there are still two more Marvel movies to go, with Ant-Man and the Wasp out this week and Captain Marvel early next year.
