One of the NHL’s most dynamic talents is finally back.
Colorado Avalanche rookie sensation Cale Makar will return to the lineup Friday against the Minnesota Wild, after missing his team’s last eight games due to an upper-body injury.
Makar suffered the injury during a Dec. 7 game against the Boston Bruins, after being levelled by Brad Marchand.

Before suffering the injury, Makar had scored eight goals and led all rookies with 28 points in 29 games. Makar is a major reason why the Avalanche are considered a leading contender for the Stanley Cup, and has exceeded the considerable hype he received after being selected No. 4 overall in the 2017 NHL Draft.
In many regards, Makar has emerged as the embodiment of the modern defenceman, boasting incredible poise, intelligence, puck skills, shooting and skating ability. Unless your favourite team is facing the Avalanche, Makar’s return to the lineup is a treat for all hockey fans.
