At long last: A wine delivery app is about to launch

We live in a brave new world: From same-day Amazon deliveries to Uber Eats and Deliveroo, it seems there’s nothing we can’t have within moments of ordering it.

Which is why you’ll be relieved to hear that one company is finally filling a gaping hole in the market; wine delivery.

Yes - no more 10:54pm realisations you’re out of shiraz when your nearest Tesco is about to close.

Started by two pals Ian Campbell and Will Palmer who currently co-own The 10 Cases wine bar in Covent Garden, the app promises to bring “top quality, expertly chosen, great value wines” to your door.

Apparently, the bar was originally opened as reaction against “static, overpriced wine lists”, and the duo claim never to buy more than 10 cases of any wine or list the same wine twice.

And according to Campbell and Palmer, this philosophy will continue with the app.

“It’s a solution to overpriced corner shops, hastily purchased bottles, and a lack of options when it comes to having great wines delivered to your door,” Palmer told Metro.

“This is no snobby wine club.”

There’s also no minimum spend, and there are more than 150 wines to choose from costing from £7.50 to £100+.

You can pick some bar snacks, such as smoked salmon and cheese, to pair with your wine too.

Sounds, perfect, right?

Although, sorry non-Londoners - the Endell Street-based bar from which the service will operate will only deliver to areas in the big smoke, starting off with zones one and two and hoping to reach the suburbs not too long after.

It’ll be available on iPhones and Androids from October 24.
