We could all use a healthy dose of optimism as summer winds to a close—and so could our wardrobes. Spell, the cult-favorite Australian label, has a new collection to deliver for both.
BAZAAR.com can exclusively share Spell is releasing a second installment of its "Age of Aquarius" collection, available to shop now. Aptly titled "Let the Sunshine In," the 28-piece drop deploys a mix of crochet knits, vintage silhouettes, and colorful fabrics for a vibe that's equal parts relaxed and optimistic. In other words: Wear one of these breezy tiered dresses or crochet tops for an instant mood boost.
"The concept of the range overall was drawn from the astrological change moving into the Age of Aquarius—the hope of positive change for the future," Elizabeth Abegg, Spell cofounder and chief brand officer, tells BAZAAR.com. She says the brand evokes the celestial in subtle ways: an embroidered hem here, a signature tee there.
But for the newest drop, Spell also took its eyes off the stars to channel natural palettes found on Earth. "For 'Let The Sunshine In,' inspiration was drawn form the raw landscapes of Tasmania—from the red rocks of the earth to the flaxen wispy grass contrasting against turquoise and lavender sunsets," Abegg says.
An appreciation for nature also infuses the drop's physical creation process. 79% of the collection was made with digital printing, a practice that uses less water and energy than typical garment production.
Spell's latest blend of the natural and astrological is sure to resonate with women the world over. Its last "Age of Aquarius" installment sold out within a day of arriving online. If only one piece can make it to your cart for the second drop, Abegg suggests starting with the crochet skirts and sweaters.
"Our crochet pieces are usually coveted, and our namesake story 'Let The Sunshine In' crochet is handmade with beautiful floral crocheted elements through the sleeves," she tells us. "It has been years since Spell has releases a crochet story, so this will be sure to sell quickly."
