Asda is aiming to take the hassle out of parcel deliveries and returns by partnering up with Amazon on a new service in most of its stores.

Ahead of the Christmas and Black Friday shopping rush, shoppers will no longer need to head to the post office or wait for the postman. All they need to do is simply visit a dedicated Amazon counter in one of 700 Asda stores across the UK.

With more locations confirmed to be added throughout the coming months, the service from the two retail giants will offer a simple and convenient method for picking up and returning parcels during the busy shopping period.

Customers who are picking up eligible Amazon orders can select their nearest Asda supermarket location as their pick-up point. An email notification confirming your parcel delivery will then provide all the information needed for the next steps.

For anyone returning items, a QR code will need to be generated by visiting the 'Your Orders' tab on the Amazon website or app, then by selecting the 'Return or Replace Items'. Shoppers will then be sent prompts to follow before taking the parcel to the drop-off counter.

The parcel service will also save a little bit of time for returns, as it takes out the hassle of purchasing new packaging. Instead, items can be sent back in their original packaging, allowing it to be packed and shipped with no extra fees.

Chris Hall, Vice President, Logistics at Asda said: "Meeting the ever-evolving needs of our customers is a top priority for us at Asda. This collaboration with Amazon just in time for Christmas marks another landmark moment, not just for our larger stores, but our ever-expanding Asda Express convenience estate.

"By bringing essential services like Amazon parcel pickup and return drop-offs closer to where our customers live and work, we’re able to provide greater convenience to more of the communities we serve across the UK."

John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager of Amazon added: "We work hard to offer customers low prices on a wide selection of products, with fast, convenient delivery options and easy returns.

"This collaboration with Asda makes it even easier for customers to pick up ordered items when they’re shopping, or make hassle-free returns at more than 700 locations around the country."
