Elizabeth Chambers – who was married to actor Armie Hammer for 10 years – has spoken out for the first time since the release of the House of Hammer documentary.

ICYMI, the documentary – which was released earlier this month – investigates the sexual assault allegations made against the Call Me By Your Name star as well as his family's complex relationships and dark secrets.

Now, weeks on from House of Hammer's release, Chambers has responded to the documentary, telling E! News that she initially planned to avoid watching it. "I did not plan on seeing it, but I did drop the kids off at school one day and came home and watched it with my support system around me," the 40-year-old TV personality said.

"It was obviously heartbreaking on so many levels and very painful. But at the same time, it exists," Chambers went on. "The past is the past and all we can do is take this as a moment to learn and listen, and hopefully process and heal in every capacity."

When asked if she was surprised by anything in the documentary series, Chambers – who shares two children with Hammer – said she "definitely was surprised, but I think that’s to be expected." As for whether the pair's children (aged five and seven) have watched the documentary, Chambers said it is not appropriate for them to do so "at this time."

Hammer's ex also revealed that she was asked to be involved in the three-part docuseries, but declined the offer. "They reached out, but, in this process, all that’s mattered and does matter is the kids and our family, and that was not something that was going to be in line with my goals for them," Chambers said.

Chambers filed from divorce from Hammer in 2020, and in the following months, the Call Me By Your Name star was accused by multiple women of physical and emotional abuse. The following year, a woman accused the actor of raping her in 2017. Some of Hammer's alleged victims also accused him of cannibalism, claiming he had told them he wanted to eat their body parts. Hammer has denied all of the allegations against him.

Speaking about her relationship with Hammer now, Chambers said they are in a "really great place" and focussing on their kids. "We talk all the time. We’re committed fully and wholly to our children, and to being together as much as possible in a non-romantic way for our kids," she said. "Kids need their mom; kids need their dad. So there’s nothing we won’t do."

Chambers went on to say that her ex-husband is "focused on his healing" and that she's supporting the process so that he can be "the best father, the best person he can be."
