Ariana Grande made sure she got the formulas for each product in her new beauty line exactly right by giving them trial runs onstage.

The 7 Rings hitmaker has been slowly revealing details about her upcoming brand, R.E.M. Beauty, over the past few months, and it has now been revealed that the first drop, titled "Chapter 1", will be released on Friday.

The first collection features eyeshadows, highlighters, mascaras, eyeliners, lip glosses, stains and sticks, and false eyelashes, and in a Zoom interview attended by a reporter for People, Ariana revealed that she has been road-testing the products onstage and at work events throughout the past two and a half years, ever since the 2019 Sweetener World Tour.

"It was very secretive," she shared. "The fact that we were able to test the highlight on stage and make notes on the formula was just so cool."

The God is a Woman singer has also been wearing R.E.M. Beauty products, including ones that don't feature in Chapter 1, while serving as a coach on The Voice U.S.

"I wear them all the time to work, like our foundation and concealer, which is my favourite," she added, before explaining that she is tweaking them little by little to make sure they're exactly right. "We didn't want to launch with (them) because of course, we spent so long perfecting the formula. There's so much more coming."

Ariana can't wait for her fans to try out her favourite combination - the Practically Permanent Lip Stain Marker and Utmost Importance Plumping Lip Gloss. All of the products are vegan, cruelty-free, and come in futuristic packaging.

"I wanted it to look like it could have been a prop on Star Trek, Barbarella, Star Wars or Black Mirror. I'm a huge fan of sci-fi horror. I like the idea of (the packaging) transporting us to another time," she explained.
