Ariana Grande has pledged $1 million (£722,000) to help fans access free therapy.

The sizeable contribution has been made in partnership with the app BetterHelp which matches users to therapists.

The singer recently announced on her Instagram that anybody who wants to access therapy via the app can use her name as a code and receive free therapy for the first month.

'While acknowledging that therapy should not be for a privileged few but something everyone has access to, and acknowledging that this doesn’t fix that issue in the long run, I really wanted to do this anyway in hopes of inspiring you to dip a toe in, to feel okay asking for help, and to hopefully rid your minds of any sort of self judgement in doing so,' the Grammy winner wrote on Instagram while sharing the announcement.

Grande has previously opened up on several occasions about how valuable she has found therapy in combatting her own mental health issues, which have included Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) stemming from the 2017 Manchester Arena suicide bombing at her concert which left 23 people dead.

'Therapy has saved my life so many times,' the 28-year-old wrote on Twitter in 2018. 'If you’re afraid to ask for help, don’t be. You don’t have to be in constant pain and you can process trauma. I’ve got a lot of work to do but it’s a start to even be aware that it’s possible.'

She has even channelled her experiences into her music, penning the song 'Breathin' from her 2018 album, Sweetener, which chronicles her struggles with anxiety.

'I so hope that this will be a helpful starting point,' Grande continued in her Instagram caption announcing her latest venture. 'And that you’ll be able to build space for this in your lives and continue! Healing is not linear or easy but you are worth the effort and time, I promise!'
