It's the best part of a lifetime ago now but plenty of readers will remember the Coventry on the 1070s. Times were different for sure and the city has changed beyond recognition.

But this collection of pictures will take you right back to a time when Coventry had its own zoo and the city continued to rebound after the blitz.

We were the fastest growing urban city that rose from the rubble after World War Two, with the first pedestrianised shopping centre in Europe and a higher rate of car and home ownership than any other industrial city. Motor manufacturing is in the city's blood, so no major surprise there.

The decade had a taste for everything back then, with punk, disco and glam rock conquering the stages, T-shirts and bell-bottomed trousers were the most popular fashion fixes to Minis, Cortinas and Escorts being the motors which populated the streets.
