Some people may argue that Anya Taylor Joy's hairstyle in The Queen's Gambit (read: Beth Harmon's redhead realness) was her best to date. And while, yes, it was a pretty dramatic transformation and ever so far from her IRL 'do, we'd like to checkmate that case with her look for this year's Golden Globe Awards. I mean, I had myself (and hopefully you, too) at Y2K...
To get straight to it, Anya took to the 80th annual red carpet with a look that's very reminiscent of our secondary school days. Bar the middle part (which would have, instead, been worn in a side part, obvs), the side clipped-up style is giving peak 'I got up at 6am and still almost missed the bus' vibes. Take a look for yourselves below:
Though having said that, we must give credit where credit is due as the actor's go-to hairstylist, Gregory Russell – who also worked up this lewk – has, clearly, elevated the style, not only with his professional skills but with the (literal) modern twist. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that as much as my 15-year-old self would have liked to think her hair was as preened to perfection as this, it most certainly was not.
And can we also just take a mo' for the perfect pin-straight lengths? Just *chef's kiss*.
"Sleek and Shiny" as Gregory puts it in the caption of his Instagram post and to that, we simply agree. Sleek and shiny indeed.
Heart eyes all around.
